INTRODUCTION
The University of Sydney was founded in 1850, making it Australia’s first established university, and is located in Australia’s most famous city. It boasts of a world-rank of 42, and is a member of Australia’s prestigious ‘Group of Eight’ research institutes in the country. It offers programmes leading to a Bachelors or Masters Degree, graduate diploma and certificate courses, as well as higher research degrees.
The university has received top ranks for a number of its taught subjects, including 25th in Philosophy, 17th in Geography, 20th in Communication and Media Studies, 12th in Law and Legal Studies, 54th in Natural Sciences, 22nd in Politics, and several others. Furthermore, with a population of 46000 students, over 25000 are international – making it a diverse as well as vibrant university environment.

Entry requirements
The standard academic requirement for entry into a postgraduate programme is a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university. Certain programmes may require a minimum score, or have additional requirements such as work experience.
English language requirements: The university accepts the following English tests for admission - 6.5 overall with no band less than 6 in IELTS (Academic), TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, and Cambridge English C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency.

Costs and Funding
The annual tuition fee for Masters programmes generally averages at 40-60000 AUD, with similar fees for graduate diploma programmes, and an average of 20-23000 AUD for graduate certificate courses. Additional costs include the Student Services and Amenities Fee and the Overseas Student Health Cover.
Scholarships: There are a number of scholarships available for international students, including the Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Programme, valued at up to 50000 AUD – there are 28 such scholarships offered annually, to meritorious students commencing either an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programme. Application Timeline
The application deadlines are February 3, 2020 for commencement in later that month, and July 22, 2020 for commencement in August. Applicants are advised to apply early.
