Spotlight on: Griffith University
Ranked among the top 2% of universities worldwide, Griffith University is home to over 50000 students, including 5000 international students, studying across 6 campuses in the state of Queensland, Australia. It offers a range of programmes including undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, diplomas and certificates, and advanced research degrees.
GU is a relatively young university that opened its doors in the 70s, that has since made it to several “best ranked” lists – 35th in the top 50 under 50. It is also known for being the first Australian uni to introduce the subjects of environmental science and Asian studies – proving that its goals include staying relevant and maintaining a global outlook. Other subjects ranked among the world’s best include Hospitality and Leisure Management, Marine/Ocean engineering, Political Sciences, Law and Water resources, among several others.

1. Entry requirements
The standard academic requirement for entry into a postgraduate programme is a Bachelors degree from a recognised university, with a minimum required GPA. Certain programmes may have additional requirements such as work experience.
English language requirements: minimum scores in one of the following English language tests – IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic, or ISLPR.
2. Costs and Funding
The annual tuition fee structure varies as per selected course – a sample would be 33000 AUD for a Masters or Graduate diploma in Environmental Science.
Scholarships: there are a number of scholarships available for international students – the Griffith Remarkable Scholarship is available for those commencing in a UG or PG coursework programme, based on merit, with an award of 50% tuition fee coverage.
3. Application timeline
The recommended dates for submission of applications are 31 January for trimester 1 (commencing in February), 3 June for trimester 2 (starting in July), and 30 September for trimester 3 (starting in October). You are recommended to submit your application as early as possible to have enough time for follow-up processes.
