NUI Galway boasts a two centuries-long history and ranks among the top 1% universities worldwide. Located in Galway, a beautiful harbour city on the Irish coastline, an education at NUIG offers you the chance to combine a world-class education with the experience of living in an historic cultural centre.

NUIG ranks highly, according to QS ratings, in the fields of Nursing, English Language and Literature, Medicine, Earth and Marine Sciences, and Geography. It offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in these and several other subjects.

1. Entry requirements

The minimum qualification for entry into a postgraduate programme i.e. a Postgraduate Diploma or a Masters degree, for an Indian applicant, is a Bachelors degree with 55-65% GPA, depending on the selected course.

English language requirements: For entry into a programme in most areas of study, a minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS, 88 in TOEFL, or 61 in Pearson PTE, is required.

2. Costs and Funding

The tuition fee for Masters programmes ranges from 13250 Euros for most subjects to 13750 Euros for Medicine, per annum.  

Scholarships: a number of scholarships are available for application to international students who have received an offer to study at NUIG and meet the required standard of academic excellence. Besides the Postgraduate Merit Scholarships that award 2000 Euros, the Max Arthur Macauliffe and the Sir Peter Freyer Special Merit Scholarships are offered exclusively to Indian students with full fee waiver, for 3 and 2 awardees respectively.

3. Application timeline

The online application system will open in November, for entry in September 2020. Applications are kept open as long as there are programme places available.
