Spotlight on: Western Sydney University

Western Sydney University, a multi-campus university located in the city of Sydney, Australia, ranks among the top 2% best universities worldwide, and offers undergraduate, postgraduate and higher research degree programmes across a range of subjects architecture, business, computing, data science, health and sport sciences and so on. With a total student population of more than 30000, WSU is also home to a large international population.

1. Entry requirements

The minimum entry requirement for most postgraduate programmes is a Bachelors degree from a recognised university; certain programmes may require a minimum score or work experience in addition.

English language requirements are met by achieving the minimum required score in one of the following internationally-recognised English language tests – IELTS, TOEFL, or Pearson PTE.

Costs and Funding

The average annual tuition fee for most Masters/graduate diploma courses ranges from 28000 to 30000 AUD, and 14000 to 17000 AUD for graduate certificate courses.

Scholarships: there are a number of merit-based scholarships on offer, some of which are exclusively for international students – these include the Vice-Chancellor’s Academic Excellence Postgraduate Scholarships which covers 50% tuition fee for 2 years, and Western Sydney International Scholarships which award 5000-7500 AUD per year, towards tuition fees, for 2 years.

2. Application timeline

For international students, the applications for each intake effectively close a month or two prior to the start date for the semester, to allow time for visa processing.
