Studying MBBS in Georgia

MBBS programmes in Georgia are typically called ‘Medical Doctor’ or MD programmes.

It is an undergraduate programme of 6 years duration – including 5 years of study and a 1 year-long internship. The structure mirrors that in India, and is thus very useful for Indian students. The medium of instruction is English.

To gain admission, one needs to qualify NEET in India, earn a minimum of 60% marks in the 12th board exams (PCB stream), and needs to qualify an English language proficiency test like IELTS.

Akaki Tsereteli State University, Kutaisi

Tuition fee: 3750 USD per annum

ATSU, located in Kutaisi, is a premier university in Georgia – its medical programme is its most significant offering for international students. It is a very affordable, yet high-quality and demanding programme. Interestingly, Kutaisi is one of the most ancient cities in the world – not a bad place to live and work for 6 years!

New Vision University, Tbilisi

Tuition fee: 7000 USD per annum

A private university, NVU “aims to develop caring, competent, confident medical doctors through outcome-based teaching approach ensuring high quality of health care.” NVU also offers scholarship options to bright students, which can bring the tuition fee down to 5250 USD.

Caucasus International University, Tbilisi

Tuition fee: 5500 USD per annum
