How do I understand my NEET result?
To qualify NEET, you need to get a score that falls within the ‘cut-off’ for your category. In other words, the cut-off is the minimum score required to pass NEET.
As you know, this cut-off is different each year, based on various factors. Before the final results, analysts release the tentative cut-offs.
For this year, the tentative cut-offs are:
Unreserved category (UR) |
701-134 |
OBC/SC/ST category |
133-107 |
UR-PH (people with disabilities) |
133-120 |
The NTA has also released the draft answer key, which you can check out here
Based on this answer key you can calculate your scores, and try to get an idea of where you stand.
Remember – this is only a prediction! You need to wait for the final results and cut-offs.
But the good thing about this is that if you already have a tentative idea, you will be able to take your next steps!
What are my options after NEET 2020?
In case you were not aware, your NEET scores can be your gateway to an MBBS abroad!
That’s right! To study in a foreign country like Russia or Georgia, the MCI has made it compulsory for students to qualify NEET. So, once you qualify NEET, you can join the cohort of talented Indian students who are choosing to study medicine abroad.
To get a place in one of the good public medical colleges in India you need to get a high rank; or else you may have to pay a lot of money to study in a private college.
But for MBBS abroad, all you need is the minimum passing score. And with that, you can study at a top public university in Europe at a very affordable cost.
What does this mean for you in 2020? For instance, if you belong to the unreserved category and you get a score equal to or higher than the official cut-off, you automatically qualify to apply for your MBBS abroad!
So, what should I do while I wait?
While you wait for your official NEET results, the best thing to do is to reach out to an overseas education consultant.
